On a weekly basis, the CAE compiles news of interest to the organization and its members, and makes it publicly available on our website. The CAE works to highlight emerging issues in which engineering has a role as well as promote recognition of engineering excellence and innovation.

Governor-in-Council appointment opportunities

Engineers Canada has brought to our attention the following immediate opportunities. Individuals appointed by the Governor-in-Council (GIC) play an important role in Canada’s democracy by serving on commissions, boards, Crown corporations, agencies, and tribunals across the country. To maintain public confidence in government decision-making, the Government of Canada is committed to filling GIC positions with highly qualified candidates who reflect Canada’s diversity.

GIC appointments would benefit from the skills and expertise of experienced engineers. Current opportunities include:

  • Directors, Sustainable Development Technology Canada
  • Directors, Federal Bridge Corporation Limited
  • President and CEO, Atomic Energy of Canada Limited

OSPE/PEO Ontario Professional Engineers Awards

Canadian Academy of Engineering Fellows Catherine Karakatsanis, Chief Operating Officer of Morrison Hershfield Group Inc., and Samantha Espley Technical Director, Vale Base Metals, were both honoured at this weekend’s Professional Engineers Ontario/ Ontario Society of Professional Engineers 2017 Professional Engineers Awards. University of Toronto Alumni Awards
