CSCE Casimir Gzowski Medal
Established in 1890, the Casimir Gzowski Medal is awarded annually by the CSCE for the best civil engineering paper in surveying, structural engineering or heavy construction. In 2018 it was awarded to Ian Jordaan, FCAE, Kevin Hewitt, & Robert Frederking, FCAE, for their paper entitled ‘’Re-evaluation of ice loads on the Molikpaq structure measured during the 1985–86 season”. The Canadian Society for Civil Engineering Horst Leipholz Medal
The Canadian Society for Civil Engineering Horst Leipholz Medal recognizes outstanding contributions to engineering mechanics research and practice in Canada. The recipient of the Horst Leipholz Medal for 2018 is UofT Professor Dr. Shamim A. Sheikh, FCAE, for his impact on bridge design codes.

The Canadian Society for Civil Engineering W. Gordon Plewes Award
The W. Gordon Plewes Award is given annually by the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering to an individual who has made particularly noteworthy contributions to the study of the history of civil engineering in Canada or by Canadians. The recipient of the 2018 award is Stantec’s Kenneth Johnson, FCAE.
