December 6 commemoration

The Canadian Academy of Engineering remembers the 14 women killed Dec. 6, 1989 at École Polytechnique through our support of the Canadian Engineering Memorial Foundation. Every CAE AGM is marked by a financial contribution in lieu of speakers gifts to the CEMF.

The Canadian Engineering Memorial Foundation was incorporated in 1990 under the initiative of Claudette MacKay-Lassonde, P.Eng. FCAE.who gathered a number of other concerned female engineers to establish the Fondation commémorative du génie canadien 1989/1989 Canadian Engineering Foundation.

Over the years, a number of CAE Fellows have served on its Board and acted as panelists for the scholarship committees.
