CAE News from the week of 23 October 2017

On a weekly basis, the CAE compiles news of interest to the organization and its members, and makes it publicly available on our website. The CAE works to highlight emerging issues in which engineering has a role as well as promote recognition of engineering excellence and innovation.

Another Woman of Innovation

Armand-Frappier Award

Christophe Guy, Concordia University V-P, Research & Grad Studies, FACG, is the 2017 laureate of the Prix du Quebec Armand-Frappier Award. The Armand-Frappier Award recognizes researchers who encourage young people to pursue a career in science and raise the public interest for science and technology. For more information, click here.

Samantha Espley, FCAE, has been honoured by PEO and OSPE for her engineering management achievements. For more information, click here.

International Association for Computer Methods and Advances in Geomechanics Medal

 Congratulations to McGill University Professor Patrick Salvadurai, FCAE, on winning the 2017 IACMAG Chandrakant S. Desai Medal.

This medal recognises individuals who have made significant contributions in research and education in geomechanics. The areas include constitutive modelling, testing, computer methods and applications in geomechanics. Consideration is given to non-traditional approaches, such as a combination of basic and practical aspects, multidisciplinary effort, integration of research and teaching, etc. For more information, click here.
